  • Infrastructure is under way for estate-wide bio-mass   energy production
  • The new ‘innovation centre’ at Blairs Farm will be supplied by biomass
  • Altyre is drawing on its extensive natural resources to become an exporter locally of wood chips
  • Biomass forms part of an integrated renewables strategy intended to embrace wind power, hydro and ground sourced heat
  • Altyre’s new Berry Burn 29-turbine wind farm –a joint venture with Statkraft- is expected to generate sufficient electricity to power more than 44,500 homes
  • A viability study is under way for a modest hydro scheme drawing power from the Altyre Burn with the intention of direct export in to the Grid
  • Elsewhere, we are responding to Government calls for farmers and rural enterprises to anticipate and prepare for climate change
  • Taking practical steps at Altyre to save energy but also to expand the availability and use of renewable energy sources throughout Moray
  • Developing skills for carbon reduction in our own activities and promoting these in our supply chain.
